About
Hubert Weiland (*1962) is a visual artist based in Munich, where he studied sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts. He works at the boundary between image and object, with photographs alongside works in which photographs become new tactile, spatial, or pictorial forms. He also works as a director in animation.

The exhibition presented "hubot," a digitally modeled figure based on the artist's own features, moving through both fictional and filmed real spaces. The figure has since been developed further across a number of works.

The exhibited work shows the same mountain range photographed from its northern and southern sides, mounted on two adjoining rotating cylinders. The matching horizon lines and diverging foregrounds set up a recurring, cyclical sequence rather than a single, fixed view.

Awarded the Special Prize of the 8th Bayerischer Fotopreis, this exhibition presented "Some Bodies," a screen-printed cube assembled from minimally shifted photographic views of a single motif, alongside related works exploring photography's relationship to sculptural and serial form.
